About the role:

We are seeking experienced and qualified Glaziers to join our team: Immediate full-time positions at $55,300 - $70,000 + Super per year, based upon providing evidence of experience and qualifications, (overtime available), working in both residential and commercial areas. You must be able to interact with clients and meet our expectations to deliver a quality finished product with high emphasis on customer service. The position relies on punctuality, ability to work unsupervised and to be self-motivated.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Ensure all manufactured products meet company standards before being installed
    • Liaise with other employees when more than one person is required on a particular job
    • Provide purchase orders to suppliers as required to ensure materials are on hand for workshop manufacture
    • Attention to detail and the ability to work unsupervised
    • Work in a team environment
    • Liaise with clients
    • Inspect work site before handover to client
    • Clean and re-stock tooling ready for next installation
    • Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in compliance with the company and construction industry

  • Main tasks:

    • Clean work site for the start of glazing and aluminium fabricating
    • Remove existing broken materials in a safe and proficient manner
    • Measuring and Installation of windows, doors & mirrors
    • Prepare existing windows / doors for the installation of new glass
    • Install new glass & aluminium using different techniques as required by site and job specific conditions
    • Final clean of work site to remove excess materials and tools
    • Responsible for interpreting work cards; liaising with clients re date/time for installations
    • Maintenance and servicing of sliding windows and doors, and operable partition walls

  • Relevant qualifications:

    • Ochre card
    • White card
    • Driver’s license
    • Certificate in relevant area of expertise (Glass and/or Joinery)

  • Relevant skills:

    • Operate industrial fabrication equipment (saws, punches, drills, routers, hand tools) in the process of preparing windows and doors for new glass and aluminium frames
    • Measures, cuts, finishes, fits and installs flat glass and mirrors, as well as aluminium profiles of different shapes and sizes
    • Breaking off sheets and excess glass with notched tools and glass pliers 
    • Smoothing rough edges using belt sander and smoothing wheels
    • Ability to problem solve and find a solution
    • Ability to communicate effectively
    • Construct and install structures and fixtures of aluminium; cuts, shapes and fits aluminium parts to form structures and fittings
    • Constructs, erects, installs and repairs structures of aluminium
    • Manufacture of aluminium windows, doors, and frame sections
    • Fitting of hardware including door locks, handles, closers etc
    • Applies measurements and calculations using appropriate equipment
    • Set out and fabricate, and then assemble and install, shopfront commercial entries 

  • Relevant experience:

    • Minimum three years’ experience in either glass cutting and/or aluminium joinery
    • Previous experience in the construction industry
    • Read and interpret production & installation drawings with specifications such as material type, size, and colour
